Thieves break into bank's tea room

It's been an unsuccessful night for would-be bank thieves on the Gold Coast after the broke into ... the tea room.

Would-be thieves have left a Gold Coast bank empty-handed after only making it as far as the tea room.

Police say the thieves tried to get into the bank at Ashmore through the ceiling in the early hours of Monday.

But after only gaining access to the tea room, they left with nothing.
