Cronulla are facing legal action from a third former player after Broderick Wright's lawyers sent the club a letter informing them of his decision to sue for negligence, breach of contract and intentional tort.

Wright is following the lead of Josh Cordoba and Isaac Gordon in taking action against the Sharks for a period during the 2011 NRL season when controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank worked at the club.

"It's been a long and difficult time since details of the supplement program were revealed," Wright told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"I have been troubled by the obvious abuse of trust by Cronulla, but what they put me through by subjecting me to the program and exposing us to unknown risks was just wrong and I feel I need to make it right.

"I love rugby league and seeing the other guys come forward gave me strength to speak up too."

The decision comes just a week before Dank is required to hand over documents about his supplements program to lawyers.

Wright left the club at the end of the 2011 season and is now employed as a real estate agent, complained of stomach problems during the program and an independent investigation later revealed players were given peptides CJC-1295 and GHRP-6.

Gordon, who experienced the most severe side effects, suffering a mysterious blood-thinning disorder that left him with severe bruising from the ankle to the groin of one leg that was also tested for cancer, was the first player to take legal action against the Sharks.

Cordoba followed his lead late last year.

On Friday it will be the first anniversary of the announcement of a drugs-in-sport probe to conducted by the Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (ASADA).

In this time the investigation has claimed only one significant scalp in former Canberra winger Sandor Earl, who remains provisionally suspended after being charged with the use and trafficking of a banned substance.

In December the NRL provisionally suspended Sharks coach Shane Flanagan and the club's former conditioning coach Trent Elkin indefinitely.

Cronulla were also hit with a $1million fine.
