The Twitter accounts of AFL stars Dale Thomas, Dustin Martin and Jack Riewoldt were hacked on Wednesday, according to their respective clubs.
Collingwood's "Daisy" Thomas tweeted he was leaving the club, but the Magpies said the midfielder's account had been hacked.
Thomas' account tweeted: "thanks for the good times pies, decieded (sic) today that im not going to be here next year #futureandbeyond #carnnorrff #oobars"
But a club spokesman told AAP: "Daisy (Thomas) knew nothing about it. He's been hacked."
Thomas regained control of his account later on Wednesday.
"Not sure who has been tweeting, replying & following people from my twitter account, atleast it was someone with a sense of humour! #hacked," he said on Twitter.
Richmond forwards Martin and Riewoldt were also victims of being hacked, the Tigers said.
"Please disregard any correspondence from Dustin Martin (except his last tweet) and Jack Riewoldt today on social media, theyve been hacked," the Tigers said on Twitter.
Martin said on Twitter: "Pretty sure I've fixed this ! Hope it doesn't happened again ! Some sad people out there hey"
Hawthorn star Lance Franklin's Instagram site was hacked on Tuesday, which led to a fake admission he had joined Greater Western Sydney.
A photo of the GWS logo appeared on the key forward's social networking account with the caption: "My soon to be new home".
The photo was deleted, but not before it attracted more than 1400 likes.
