Three people have been charged with attempted murder after a sleeping man's car was doused with fuel at a park in Sydney's southwest.

The man, 45, woke in the early hours of Sunday morning in the passenger seat of a car at a remote park in Picnic Point.

He'd earlier fallen asleep in the car at Merrylands, some 20km north.

A 48-year-old woman, reportedly the man's wife, was found at the scene and arrested.

She was charged with attempted murder and appeared at Bankstown Local Court on Monday.

Two more people, a 48-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman, handed themselves in at Miranda Police Station on Monday.

They will face charges of attempted murder at Sutherland Local Court on Tuesday.
