Three women charged as Qld manhunt ends

Queensland police say they have arrested a prisoner who escaped from a work camp in April and laid charges against three women.

A manhunt for an escaped Queensland prisoner has ended with charges laid against three women.

The 66-year-old prisoner allegedly escaped from a work camp at Blackall, in the state's central west, under cover of darkness in April.

Queensland police say they recaptured the man at a home near Mount Charlton, north-west of Mackay, on Tuesday afternoon.

They have also charged the three women with harbouring an escaped prisoner.

The women will appear in Mackay Magistrates Court on June 26, while the 66-year-old has been charged with escaping lawful custody.
