Thrillseekers rescued on Qld rollercoaster

Several thrillseekers who became stuck at the top of a rollercoaster ride at Sea World on the Gold Coast have been rescued.

Several people who became stranded on a rollercoaster at Sea World on the Gold Coast have been rescued.

Sea World said the Storm Coaster stopped mid-ride after a sensor fault, with those on it becoming stuck at a significant height.

The rescue operation began around midday, with the cart still stuck on the tracks.

"The safety and wellbeing of all our guests is our top priority and our highly trained staff ensured the safest outcome was achieved with guests led down the stairs to ground level without incident," Sea World said.

The rollercoaster has reportedly had similar issues before and the incident comes during the busy school holiday period.

"The ride will reopen after the fault is cleared and operating checks are completed," Sea World said.
