Thunder to play BBL pre-season game in NZ

The Sydney Thunder will be the first Australian domestic Twenty20 team to play in New Zealand after confirming a one-off game against Canterbury.

Canterbury will be the first New Zealand province to host an Australian Big Bash team when they meet in a one-off Twenty20 game in Christchurch in December.

The Sydney Thunder will face the hosts at Hagley Oval on December 4 as part of their preparations for the BBL season starting later in the month.

The game falls during Canterbury's New Zealand domestic campaign, between games against Wellington on December 2 and Central Districts on December 6.

Canterbury Cricket chief executive Lee Germon says the fixture is the result of a burgeoning relationship between his organisation and the Sydney Thunder.
