Tide turning on family violence: Batty

Rosie Batty has told a Labor conference event that the tide is turning on addressing family violence in Australia.

Australian of the Year Rosie Batty says change is imminent in addressing family violence in Australia.

The family violence campaigner, whose son Luke was murdered by his father, said workers and campaigners in the family violence sector were finally feeling heard and validated.

"I feel great positivity and change is imminent," Ms Batty told a family violence event on the sidelines of the ALP national conference in Melbourne.

Federal Labor leader Bill Shorten and his wife Chloe sat in the room for part of Saturday's panel session involving Ms Batty.
