Tie-breakers set NBA draft order

Milwaukee Bucks get the top pick in the NBA draft followed by Philadelphia, Orlando, Utah, Boston and the Los Angeles Lakers.

Defending champion Miami lost a couple of places in the NBA Draft selection order while Utah gained slightly better odds at the top pick after tie-breaker drawings were made Friday.

Random drawings were used to break ties between teams which finished the regular season with identical records to determine a final order for the June 26 NBA Draft and odds in the May 20 NBA Draft Lottery.

Utah won a tie-breaker with Boston among teams at 25-57 for the fourth pick in the draft and gained one extra chance at moving up into a top-three pick in the lottery.

Miami lost tie-breakers to both Portland and Houston among teams that went 54-28, leaving Miami at 26th in the first round, one spot behind Houston, and Portland's pick, which has been traded to Charlotte, in the 24th spot.

Brooklyn won a tie-break over Washington for the 17th spot in the draft order and Chicago downed Toronto for the 19th postition.

The Milwaukee Bucks, sold on Wednesday for $US550 million ($A588m) after a league-worst 15-67 campaign, have the best chance at the top pick in next month's lottery, followed in order by Philadelphia, Orlando, Utah, Boston and the Los Angeles Lakers.
