Richmond spearhead Jack Riewoldt says the onus is on the AFL club's players to reward the good work of its board and president Peggy O'Neal.
A rebel group called for a spill of the Tigers' board on Monday, pledging to retain coach Damien Hardwick, chief executive Brendon Gale and football boss Dan Richardson in their current posts.
The point of difference was establishing a new senior position above Richardson and they publicly nominated Neil Balme as an ideal appointment.
It remains unclear whether Balme has any interest in the role.
Riewoldt was somewhat reluctant to talk about the series of events but praised Gale and O'Neal.
"The current board, Brendon and Peggy have put the club in a really good position off the field. As players we need to back them up and perform better on the field," Riewoldt told Fox Footy.
"As a player I don't really know what to say about it (the rebel group).
"It's a long, distant way from my thoughts and what I'm thinking at this time of the year.
"We'd rather not be in the paper but it's at a level where I have nothing to do with it."
The results of a review into the club's football department, conducted with the help of accounting firm Ernst & Young, are expected to be released soon.
Riewoldt noted it was important the Tigers make some changes after a disappointing year in which they finished 13th on the ladder and recorded eight wins.
"Our performances weren't up to scratch. There's going to probably be some harsh truths that come through .. as you'd expect from a pretty poor season," the key forward said.
"You can't sit back, fall into a pot hole and not fix it. So we need to look at the review and take it on face value.
"Some hard conversations are probably going to have to be had but that's part and parcel of getting better as a footy club."
