Tigers set sights on top eight

Richmond will remarkably enter the AFL top eight with a win over St Kilda on Sunday afternoon.

The days of Jack Riewoldt winning Coleman Medals could be over - but Richmond don't care a jot.

Ahead of their match with St Kilda that could vault them into the AFL's top eight for the first time all season, the Tigers are seeing Riewoldt's reduced output as a measure of how far they've come.

Riewoldt led the league's goalkicking in 2010 and 2012, with hauls of 78 and 65.

But the full-forward is on one of the leanest streaks of his career, with just four goals in four games.

Assistant coach Brendon Lade said the Tigers were fine with Riewoldt's output.

"It's not a concern for us, we're happy for anyone to kick goals as long as we get the win," he said.

"He's still having five or six shots for goal but at the moment he's missing a few.

"Jack's probably a 50 goal a year player and he can tick along and probably get that again this year.

Riewoldt trails only Dustin Martin, a withdrawal from the Tigers side to face St Kilda, for goal assists and Lade said developing that part of his game is more important than kicking bags himself.

"We've gone away from relying on one person in all areas of the ground," he said.

"He's definitely playing a role for the team ... they're all taking the weight off each other and that's the sign of a good team."

The Tigers' much-vaunted winning streak will tick along to eight if, as expected, they make short work of the bottom-placed Saints.

North Melbourne's defeat of Adelaide keeps the door open for a stunning finals appearance.

A run from a 3-10 win-loss record to the finals would be a remarkable achievement but Lade insists it is not a focus for the club.

"We've got some really good momentum and our goal is to keep that going," he said.

The Tigers have given Dan Jackson another week in the VFL to prove his fitness and form, with Reece Conca brought back in for Martin.

St Kilda will give a debut to forward Spencer White, after nine goals in three VFL rounds.

Clinton Jones and Brodie Murdoch also come in for Shane Savage (broken arm), Josh Saunders and James Gwilt (omitted).
