Troy Chaplin is set to bolster Richmond's defence when the Tigers take on Geelong, with the club also hopeful of regaining Chris Newman for Saturday's clash.
The veteran pair were sorely missed as their side went down to Melbourne by 32 points, but are making solid progress in their recoveries from a calf and back injury respectively.
"(Troy's injury) was pretty minor but he just wasn't good enough to play last week," physical performance manager Peter Burge told the club's website on Tuesday.
"He came off a pretty hard deck at the Gabba, played a lot of game time at pretty high intensity and pulled up a bit sore.
"But we're expecting him to play this week.
"Chris copped a pretty big knock to the back last week ... and we just couldn't get him up to play.
"But this week we're hoping he can train and hopefully be available for selection."
Dylan Grimes (hamstring) and Reece Conca (hamstring) are also available for selection.
The news is not so good for Ben Griffiths, who Burge said will miss one to two weeks with a calf injury picked up in the loss to the Demons.
Brett Deledio looks set to miss at least one more match with the calf injury that has kept him on the sidelines since round one.
"Brett resumes running this week and he's probably unlikely to be available this week, so we'll see how that progresses," Burge said.
"It's been really frustrating for everyone, but we're looking forward to having him back training with the main group next week hopefully."
Nathan Drummond will miss the rest of the season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, but Burge is confident he will be able to play in next year's pre-season competition.
