Wests Tigers have locked down promising young hooker Jacob Liddle until the end of the 2019 season.

The Tigers have continued their recruitment and retention drive under coach Ivan Cleary with the 20-year-old agreeing to a one-year contract extension.

After debuting last year, Liddle has played eight games off the interchange bench and served as back-up to Matt McIlwrick in 2017.

A former Australian Schoolboys representative, he is viewed by the club as their long-term hooker option.

"I'm really excited for the opportunity that Wests Tigers has given me, the club has given me the chance to develop my game both on and off the field," Liddle said.

"Wests Tigers are a great club and the future is bright here, we've got a lot of players coming in and a lot who have helped me develop as I've come through the grades."

The Tigers did lose Mitchell Moses to a mid-year transfer to Parramatta and Aaron Woods and James Tedesco are set to depart at season's end however they have made positive inroads in building their squad for 2018.

Tui Lolohea has been brought in as an immediate replacement for Moses while Josh Reynolds, Russell Packer, Ben Matulino and Chris McQueen will play out of Concord next year.
