As brave sporting victories go, this was one of them.
In stage one of the Tour de France, German Tony Martin crashed to the road, his injuries forcing a hospital visit.
Since then he's had to nurse his aching body over the Pyrenees mountains and through nine other stages while preserving enough energy to win his specialty event, the individual time trial in stage 11.
And as Murray Silby reports, he rose to the occasion.
