FP - Denmark-based team Tinkoff-Saxo say they have signed Slovakian sprinter Peter Sagan, holder of the Tour de France's green jersey, for three years.
Team manager Bjarne Riis said on Friday Sagan "has the ability to bring home victories", adding the 24-year-old would leave Cannondale and join the Russian-owned team next year.
Sagan proved the Tour's best sprinter for the third straight year. He did not win a single stage, despite four runner-up finishes, but his consistency gave him a lead of more than 140 points in the best sprinter contest.
Team Tinkoff-Saxo includes Spanish two-time Tour winner Alberto Contador who crashed out with injuries this year before the halfway mark.
Sagan has had a fairly unsuccessful season by his high standards, with victory at E3 Harelbeke his only major win, other than the Slovakian national road race.
He was 2nd in Strade Bianche, 3rd at Gent-Welvelgem, sixth in Paris-Roubaix and 10th at Milan-San Remo.
He also finished second in four Tour stages while coming fourth on another four.
Sagan had reportedly been courted by Astana as well as the new Spanish team being built for next season by Formula One star Fernando Alonso.
