When Josh Hoffman quit Brisbane to join NRL rivals Gold Coast it was in the hope of finally nailing down his preferred fullback spot.
So you could expect the New Zealand international to be peeved at being named in the centres for the embattled club's season opener against Wests Tigers on Saturday.
Club stalwart Will Zillman will keep his No.1 jersey with Hoffman, who is something of a victim of his own versatility, partnering young flyer James Roberts in the centres.
Coach Neil Henry's decision is something Hoffman says he just has to accept.
"I'm just happy to be part of the team," he said.
"Neil has a tough job as it is picking a 17 and finding out who he's going to put in key positions."
Just where Hoffman would be given his opportunity had been one of the big talking points going into the Titans season but the cocaine scandal which has hit the club in the past fortnight has put it to the side.
Instead it's the forwards where Henry faces his biggest selection headaches with trio Beau Falloon, Greg Bird and Dave Taylor all ruled out ahead of their court appearances on drug charges.
With David Hala (knee), Matt White (hamstring) and Ben Ridge (pectoral) also injured, the last thing Henry would have wanted to seen at training on Wednesday was skipper Nate Myles limping out of the session.
The Queensland State of Origin star, set to play at lock in Bird's absence, went straight to the dressing sheds at CBUS Super Stadium and didn't return but club officials say Myles suffered a knock to his calf and should have no problems taking on the Tigers.
Hoffman said the team was in good spirits ahead of the clash despite their recent off-field distractions.
"We've got great depth there ... I'm excited to see what the outside backs can do and I'm excited to be playing alongside the likes of James Roberts and Aidan Sezer," he said.
