Gold Coast coach Neil Henry has distanced the Titans from a report claiming they're poised to lure AFL player Josh Hall from the Gold Coast Suns.

Hall, a former high jump prospect, was linked to a switch to the NRL in a report on the Seven Network.

But Henry said on Friday the 25-year-old from Townsville would most probably need to prove himself at a Queensland Cup rugby league team before the Titans would show any interest in him for an NRL contract.

"There's a guy who works for the Suns who was involved in rugby league collecting data there and he (Hall) said he was interested," Henry said.

"But he'd have to go through the process of Queensland Cup and that'd be a stepping stone. It'd be very rare that we'd go in and say there'd be a contract offer there."

Recruited by the Suns in 2011, Hall has only played five matches for club with injury disrupting his 2014 campaign.

The 197cm forward's last appearance was in AFL round 21, 2013.
