Titans hope to stop Storm's Qld dominance

Melbourne have won 11 out of 12 matches at Suncorp Stadium and Gold Coast want to end their dominance at the venue when they clash on Saturday.

Gold Coast are hoping the electric atmosphere of a near-capacity Suncorp Stadium will fire up the Titans and bring to a halt Melbourne's remarkable record at the venue.

The Storm have won 11 out of 12 matches at Suncorp. In contrast, the Titans have won only six times from 18 attempts there.

A full house is expected on Saturday with crowd-pullers Brisbane playing Manly in the later match of the NRL double-header.

Former Bronco Dale Copley, who is set to make a return from injury for the Titans, says it's a special experience playing there.

"It's a pretty unique experience for anyone who doesn't play for the Broncos, they're the only team in the competition that get 50,000 people to NRL fixtures," Copley said.

"It's the best place to play an NRL game and when it's packed there is nothing like it."

Both teams will be missing senior players after last weekend's cocaine scandal with the Storm's Jesse Bromwich banned for two matches and Titans' Kevin Proctor rubbed out for four matches.

The Titans have had a rocky start to the season with an injury crisis sidelining up to 11 players at various stages of the year.

They are in 12th position with a 3-6 win ratio - their finals hopes in serious jeopardy if they don't win upcoming matches against Melbourne and Manly.

Anthony Don understands the tough task confronting them if they want to progress beyond the regular season, but he's not looking further ahead than this weekend.

"They've got such a good team, they're led by Cameron Smith and have Billy Slater and Cooper Cronk," Don said.

"Across the park they're a really strong team and they're performing, that's why they're top of the ladder."
