Ken Wisenhunt, the former coach of the Arizona Cardinals, has been named the new coach of the National Football League's Tennessee Titans.
The team announced in a posting on its website that Wisenhunt would replace the fired Mike Munchak after agreeing on contract terms that were not announced.
Wisenhunt spent this past season as the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers, who were eliminated from the NFL playoffs one day earlier, losing 24-17 at Denver.
Wisenhunt, 51, went 45-51 over six seasons from 2007-12 while guiding the Cardinals, who under him won two NFC West division titles and reached Super Bowl 43, losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2009.
The Titans interviewed Wisenhunt on Friday in San Diego because of NFL rules regarding talks to personnel on teams still in the playoffs. Tennessee spoke with three other NFL assistant coaches about the job as well.
Wisenhunt, whose hometown of Augusta, Georgia, is the home of golf's Masters major championship, spent 10 seasons as an assistant coach before taking over the Cardinals and played nine seasons in the NFL as a tight end, catching 62 passes for 601 yards and six touchdowns for Atlanta, Washington and the New York Jets.
