Gold Coast pivot Aidan Sezer appears set to face Canterbury this weekend but still must pass a concussion test to take his place in the team.
Sezer was named to play on Tuesday but has been in some doubt, having suffered a head knock late in last week's hard-fought win over Wests Tigers.
But the Canberra-bound five-eighth completed training on Thursday afternoon on the Gold Coast and should be right for Sunday's clash at cBus Super Stadium, provided he can convince doctors.
Sezer's inclusion will be a huge boost for a Titans side that has already lost boom playmaker Kane Elgey to an ankle injury for the next six weeks.
Utility Daniel Mortimer was thrown into the halves when Elgey was forced off against the Tigers and will don the No.7 jersey on Sunday, continuing his role as Gold Coast's Mr Fix-It this season.
"I didn't get the pre-game nerves that would have come with playing in the halves, I guess," Mortimer said.
"It was nice being just chucked in there. I thought I had a solid game last week.
"I'm looking forward to the challenge again."
Mortimer is expected to rotate with rake Kierran Moseley to help lighten the load on the young gun.
With Beau Falloon (wrist), Matt Srama (ankle) and Christian Hazard (ankle) injured, the Titans have no bench back-up at hooker.
"Basically, Kingy (coach Neil Henry) said at the start of the week be prepared to play in both and we'll go from there," Mortimer said.
"We'll see. I've been tossed around in a few positions before and there's nothing really new.
"I really enjoyed that little stint at hooker (earlier in the season) and I may be called on to do that again at some point in the game.
"But it's nice to get back in the halves, get my hands back on the ball and get in the thick of it."
