Despite Trent Hodkinson becoming the latest star to snub Gold Coast, Titans coach Neil Henry claims he's in no rush to find a playmaker for next year's NRL campaign.
Hodkinson overlooked an offer from the Titans to sign a three-year deal with Newcastle from 2016.
The NSW halfback was the Titans' main recruitment target following Daly Cherry-Evans controversial backflip to stay with Manly.
The decision means the Titans still don't have a senior playmaker for next year, with youngster Kane Elgey and Daniel Mortimer their only options in the halves, as five-eighth Aidan Sezer is bound for Canberra at season's end.
Chad Townsend's decision to sign with Cronulla on a two-year deal means there are limited options in the market from which Henry can source his next half.
"We'll move on; we certainly were hoping to get him north," Henry said of Hodkinson.
"There's playmakers out there. It's whether or not we go with a young option or wait and see a little bit. We're in no huge hurry - we don't need to rush into things at the moment."
Henry distanced himself from reports linking the club with current Newcastle halfback Tyrone Roberts, who may well find himself surplus at the Knights due to Hodkinson's impending arrival.
Rumours were circulating that Roberts was on the Gold Coast to meet Titans staff but Henry knocked those back.
"At the moment, we don't know if he's on the open market as such," Henry said.
"I haven't met him and I haven't spoken to him. He's not going to be turning up here this afternoon."
Henry did say he was interested in Brisbane under-20s product Ashley Taylor, although he knows competition for the Junior Kangaroo will be fierce.
"We've certainly looked at him ... all reports a great kid, hard worker and an NRL player of the future. We'd be mad not to look at him," he said.
