Greater Western Sydney say Toby Greene has accepted the recent sanctions handed down by the AFL club.

Greene was given a five-game suspension and fined $5,000 by GWS for breaking club protocol by drinking alcohol during his recovery from an ankle injury and failing to inform the club of his recent arrest.

Greene's manager Paul Connors believed the club-imposed suspension was too harsh and had said the midfielder was considering an appeal.

But the Giants, Greene and Connors held further talks on the weekend - making it clear the ban covered selection in either AFL or NEAFL.

"I fronted my teammates on Friday and told them I was sorry for letting them and the club down," Greene said in a statement released by GWS on Sunday.

"I failed to meet the standards required of the playing group and fully accept the sanctions handed down by the player leadership group.

"I am determined to work hard to regain not only my spot in the team but also the respect of my teammates."

Greene will face court on September 25 over a series of charges for his alleged role in a nightclub brawl last Monday night, with Giants chief executive David Matthews noting the club was not pre-judging the charges.
