Bernard Tomic has reached the main draw of the Moselle Open after a hard-fought victory in qualifying over Mats Moraing.

Bernard Tomic is through to the first round of the Moselle Open in France after a hard-fought win over Mats Moraing in the qualifiers.

The Australian had to dig deep to make the main draw after winning a first set tiebreaker 8-6 before losing the second set 6-3.

He fought back to win the third 6-3 to set up a first round encounter with wildcard Ugo Humbert on Wednesday (AEST).

Tomic is ranked No.129 in the world while Frenchman Humbert is 108.

After losing to fellow German Matthias Bachinger 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 in qualifying, Yannick Maden took full advantage of his lucky-loser status following the withdrawal of Philipp Kohlschreiber because of fatigue.

Maden defeated compatriot Mischa Zverev 7-5 4-6 6-1 to progress to the second round.

US Open semi-finalist and world No.12 Kei Nishikori is the tournament's top seed.
