Bernard Tomic's father and coach John has been refused accreditation for the US Open, with the US Tennis Association (USTA) also considering banning him from the event as a spectator.

The USTA "opted not to credential" John Tomic after receiving a request from young Australian star Bernard Tomic's agent, said USTA spokesman Chris Widmaier on Sunday, the eve of the year's final grand slam championship in New York.

"Our desire is to make it as difficult as possible for him to gain entry to the US Open," Widmaier added.

John Tomic was banned from tournaments by the ATP Tour and International Tennis Federation earlier this year after being accused of assaulting Bernard's hitting partner Thomas Drouet in Madrid on May 4.

Both the French Open and Wimbledon subsequently declared John Tomic wouldn't be allowed entry into their grand slam tournaments facilities, even if he were to purchase a ticket. Widmaier said the US Open would follow that policy too.

"Our gate personnel that scan tickets have been informed that he's an unwanted guest," Widmaier said.

"It would be within our right to escort him off the grounds. However, we have not determined what our exact policy will be at this time."

World No.52 Bernard Tomic, 20, is scheduled to face Albert Ramos of Spain on the opening day of the US Open on Monday.

After winning his first-round match at Wimbledon this year, the younger Tomic criticised the ATP for preventing his father from attending tournaments for 12 months, saying the tour rushed to judgment in the case which is still before a Madrid court.

John Tomic has denied assaulting Drouet.
