Tomkins and Hurrell back for Warriors

Fullback Sam Tomkins and centre Konrad Hurrell are set to come back from injury and suspension respectively for the Warriors against the Sydney Roosters.

Fullback Sam Tomkins and centre Konrad Hurrell have been named among five changes to the Warriors' starting line-up to face the Sydney Roosters in Auckland.

Tomkins has been included for the match on Saturday night in place of utility Tuimoala Lolohea, who goes to the bench.

The England international was a late withdrawal before the 36-4 loss to South Sydney in Perth last weekend because of a knee injury.

Coach Andrew McFadden has his fingers crossed that Tomkins will be right to face the Roosters.

"With Sam, we're hopeful he'll get through the week and be ready to come back for this game," he said.

Hurrell, in for Jonathan Wright, has completed a three-match ban for dangerous contact with his knee.

McFadden had two changes forced on him with prop Jacob Lillyman (Queensland) and second rower Ryan Hoffman (NSW) both retained for State of Origin 2.

Their replacements are rookies Albert Vete and Raymond Faitala-Mariner.

At hooker, Nathan Friend, who has been coming off the bench, has been selected to start, Siliva Havili dropping out of the match-day squad.

There is one other change on the bench, with prop Charlie Gubb in line to make his first NRL appearance of the season.

The Warriors sit eighth on the ladder, separated from the sixth-placed Roosters by points for-and-against.

Warriors: Sam Tomkins, Ken Maumalo, Konrad Hurrell, Solomone Kata, Manu Vatuvei, Chad Townsend, Shaun Johnson, Albert Vete, Nathan Friend, Ben Matulino, Bodene Thompson, Raymond Faitala-Mariner, Simon Mannering (capt).

Interchange: Tuimoala Lolohea, Sebastine Ikahihifo, Sam Lisone, Charlie Gubb.
