Top Pakistan cricket deals to select few

The Pakistan Cricket Board has awarded top contracts to just five players including Test and ODI captain Misbah-ul-Haq and allrounder Shahid Afridi.

Pakistan Test and limited-overs captain Misbah-ul-Haq and flamboyant allrounder Shahid Afridi are among five players given top category A contracts on Thursday by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Mohammad Hafeez, Saeed Ajmal and Junaid Khan are the other players in the top category as the PCB announced central contracts to 31 players in four categories.

Experienced middle order batsman Younis Khan has been demoted to category B, which also includes Ahmad Shahzad, Umar Akmal and Umar Gul.

The PCB director international Zakir Khan, chief selector Moin Khan and camp commandant Mohammad Akram selected the contracted players after evaluating fitness of them during a month-long training camp in Lahore.

The PCB says it has increased monthly pay and Test match remuneration in all four categories by 25 per cent.
