Top AFL draft pick Jacob Weitering is on track to make his debut for Carlton when the Blues take on Richmond in the opening round of the season.

Weitering is progressing well through his first pre-season campaign and is hopeful of slotting into Carlton's back six from the outset.

The key defender spoke to reporters from Etihad Stadium on Monday during a break in the annual AFL Players Association induction camp to welcome the 110 new players selected by clubs at last year's national and rookie drafts.
