Tortoise arrives for Downing Street tea

The home of Britain’s leading politicians has seen plenty of special guests but none quite like this.

A giant tortoise was among invitees who gathered for a special Christmas-themed charity event.

Children and parents involved with the Starlight Children’s Foundation joined pop stars, politicians and members of the military at Number 11 Downing Street for a tea party with a twist.

Pixie Lott, rapper Professor Green and actor Jake Wood were among those present.

The Starlight organisation helps young people and their families with serious and terminal illnesses.
