Total fire bans in place for parts of SA

Parts of South Australia are subject to total fire bans with dangerous weather conditions predicted.

Dangerous weather conditions have prompted total fire bans for large parts of South Australia.

A ban is in place for the Northwest Pastoral district on Sunday where the fire danger rating is listed as extreme.

The West Coast, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North and Yorke Peninsula districts have also declared bans with conditions there now rated as severe.

The bans came into place at midnight and will apply for 24 hours.

The Country Fire Service (CFS) recommends people put in place their bushfire survival plans.

The CFS says in districts where the fire danger rating is severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety in a fire.

But in extreme conditions, only well prepared, well built and actively defended homes are likely to offer safety during a fire.

"If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option," the CFS says.
