Townsville woman charged with murder

Townsville police have charged a woman with murder after the body of a 71-year-old was found in a home.

A woman is expected to front a Townsville court charged with murder of an elderly woman.

A 71-year-old woman was found dead by police at a Dalrymple Road home around 2.20pm on January 2.

At the time, police said the deceased woman's car, a blue Holden Astra could hold the key to the crime.

They have charged a 36-year-old local woman with murder over the death.

She is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.
