TPP talks could wrap up in two weeks

Trade Minister Andrew Robb says US Congress is "increasingly bullish" about passing a trade promotion authority which could wrap up TPP talks.

Negotiations for a landmark trans-Pacific free trade agreement could be wrapped up by next week as Republicans become "increasingly bullish" about getting a fast-track measure through the US Congress.

Trade Minister Andrew Robb believes if a trade promotion authority passes before the end of this week, ministers from 12 participating nations could finalise negotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership within a fortnight.

Mr Robb told ABC radio he fears the issue will become more politicised with every month that goes by as the US heads into its congressional election season.
