Prop Jake Trbojevic has emerged as the possible long-term successor to Jamie Lyon as Manly skipper after being appointed as co-captain for the Sea Eagles' round 14 NRL clash with Penrith.
Manly juniors Jake Trbojevic, 22, and his brother Tom, 19, are two of the hottest young stars in the NRL.
The duo are viewed as future NSW and Australian representatives and in naming Jake as co-captain alongside Nate Myles for Sunday's Brookvale Oval encounter with the Panthers, Sea Eagles coach Trent Barrett has indicated Jake is future captaincy material.
Long-term skipper Lyon, who will retire at season's end is out with a leg injury.
Manly's Kiwis utility Lewis Brown said Jake has a big future ahead of him.
"Him and his brother I think have been our best two players all year," Brown said.
"Jake doesn't whinge he just gets through his job. He does everything at 100 mph. I am sure you will see him and his brother in the Blues jumper and the Australian jumper in the near future.
"They are good kids, very humble and very respectful. They are a big part of our team."
Manly interchange prop Josh Starling said Jake had earned the leadership honour.
"It is well deserved," he said.
"He puts his body on the line every week and wants to play 80 minutes whether he is busted or not.
"He deserves every accolade he gets."
