The release of previously confidential federal treasury information on falling cigarette sales has caused a stir.
The data, showed that 3.4 percent fewer cigarettes were sold in 2013 than 2012 after the introduction of plain packaging laws that the industry strongly opposed.
Thus, the treasury data showed that cigarette companies had been misleading the public over data about tobacco sales since the introduction of the laws.
But what does it all mean, and where does the smoking debate go from here?
