Truckie's death WA's 12th in five days

The death of a truckie in WA's south continues a horror run of road tragedies in the state since the long weekend, with 12 killed in five days.

A horror spate of deaths on West Australian roads continues with a truck driver killed in a fiery crash in the state's south.

The 64-year-old from Dalyellup died after his truck towing two trailers and a dog trailer jack-knifed and rolled before catching fire on the Albany Highway near Kendenup on Tuesday afternoon.

His death comes after 11 fatalities over the Labour Day weekend, eight of them in country areas, prompting calls for more road maintenance funds.

The state's annual road toll stands at 42 or 12 more than at the same time last year.
