Trump lawyers may try to block Stormy Daniels' interview with 60 Minutes

President Donald Trump's lawyers are trying to stop a US TV network from airing an interview with porn star Stormy Daniels, according to media reports.

Daniels - who allegedly had an affair with Trump in 2006 - has been interviewed by Anderson Cooper for CBS' 60 Minutes in a piece which is yet to have an official air date.

But it's understood Trump's lawyers want to stop that from happening.

"We understand from well-placed sources they are preparing to file for a legal injunction to prevent it from airing," a source told BuzzFeed.

It is unclear what Daniels - whose real name is Stephanie Clifford - discussed with Cooper during their interview.

BuzzFeed reported that it did not know what legal argument the lawyers would be making to support the considered litigation.

After the reports were published online, Daniels' lawyer Michael Avenatti shared the Buzzfeed news story on Twitter, along with a photo of Daniels and Anderson.

The White House has not provided comment on the CBS interview or whether Trump's lawyers were fighting to stop it from airing.

The story comes a week after Daniels' lawyer began fighting to toss out a nondisclosure agreement - claimed to be between Daniels and Trump - which she allegedly signed just days before the November 2016 election.

The lawyer, Avenatti, is fighting for the claimed "hush" agreement to be considered null and void, so Daniels can be able to tell her side of the story publicly.

Trump's attorney confirmed Daniels had been paid $130,000 through a nondisclosure agreement.

But Avenatti argues the NDA was invalid because it was allegedly never signed by Trump under a requested pseudonym of David Dennison.

Using the pseudonyms Peggy Peterson and David Dennison, Daniels and Trump were reportedly expected to sign the agreement.

"(Daniels) believes it's important that the public learn the truth about what happened," Avenatti said last week.

"I think it's time for her to tell her story and for the public to decide who's telling the truth".

The White House has commented on the Stormy Daniels claims before, firmly stating that Donald Trump denies them.

"The president has denied the allegations against him," spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders told a press briefing last week.

"The president has addressed these directly and made very well clear that none of these allegations are true".

"Anything beyond that I would refer you to the president's outside counsel".
