Tugboat engineer strikes end across Aust

A standoff between tugboat engineers and their employer Svitzer has ended after union opposition was overruled by an employee ballot.

Tugboat engineers will return to work following a week of nationwide strikes.

The Australian Institute of Marine and Power Engineers federal secretary Martin Byrne said members wouldn't be taking further industrial action against the employer Svitzer.

Mr Byrne said Svitzer had made changes to the proposed enterprise agreement, promising to keep conditions unchanged for all employees.
