Turnbull plans union boss crackdown

Union officials would be banned from holding office if they routinely break the law, under new federal laws proposed by the coalition.

The Turnbull government will seek parliament's support later this year to ban union officials who break the law from holding office.

Liberal frontbencher Christopher Pyne told parliament on Thursday the bill would apply to any union boss who routinely broke the law.

Mr Pyne challenged Labor to back the legislation.
