Leading Australian cyclist Tiff Cromwell has won the opening stage of the prestigious Thuringen women's tour in Germany.
And two-time Olympian Annette Edmondson has taken out the prolgue time trial at the BeNE ladies' tour.
Cromwell timed her attack to perfection in the last 1km, crossing the line by herself to win the 124.8km stage at Schleiz.
It's Cromwell's first win this season.
Canyon-SRAM teammate Lisa Brennauer, who won the prologue, maintained her overall lead.
"Our plan was of course to keep the yellow jersey, but we also want to race and to win stages," Cromwell said.
Also on Thursday night (AEST), Edmondson won the 1.9km BeNE Tour prologue at the Dutch city of Vissingen.
The two-time track world champion used her pursuit skills to great effect, winning the prologue by more than four seconds.
"I really wanted to focus on this prologue because it suits me," Edmondson said.
"It's really short and fast, and was all about power, so it was perfect for me ... I was really happy with the ride."
