Two boys killed in Qld after car burns

Two Queensland boys, aged nine and 13 and a woman died in the Lockyer Valley west of Brisbane after a semitrailer collided with a car.

Two boys and a woman were killed after a car burst into flames when it collided with a semitrailer west of Brisbane.

The fatalities occurred after the parked sedan was driven back on to the Warrego Highway in Queensland's Lockyer Valley when it was hit by the trailer.

The boys, aged nine and 13, and a 38-year-old female driver died at the scene at Glenore Grove, a town between Brisbane and Toowoomba.

The children and the woman came from the Queensland Darling Downs town of Oakey, a Queensland Police spokeswoman told AAP.

The driver of the semi-trailer, 55, was physically unharmed in the crash early on Wednesday evening.

Senior Sergeant Jim McDonald told the Toowoomba Chronicle the car was engulfed by 1.5 metre flames and little could be done to save the people inside.

"The truck driver has done a great job, but unfortunately the incident has occurred and we've got three people who've lost their lives," he said.
