Two men die in Victorian house blaze

Two men have been killed in a house fire on Victoria's Bellarine Peninsula.

An elderly father and his carer son have died in a house fire on Victoria's Bellarine Peninsula.

The 90-year-old man and his 57-year-old son had lived in the weatherboard home at Ocean Grove for more than 40 years, according to media reports.

Police are yet to release details about the pair.

Emergency services were called to fire about 4am on Monday.

"It's just terrible, it really is," friend Phil Green told the Nine Network on Monday.

"They were caring people, quiet-living people. It is just shocking."

Another neighbour told reporters "there was no way they could have got out of there".

One body was removed from the upstairs bathroom while the other was found in a bedroom by fire crews, Nine reported.

"There is some evidence of firewood external to the property and some sort of fire in the lounge room downstairs," CFA operations officer Wayne Aylmer told the network.

It is not yet known what caused the blaze.
