Hundreds of Adelaide residents have reported feeling an earthquake that struck in a southern suburb, the second quake in South Australia in four hours.
The magnitude 2.6 earthquake struck near Aberfoyle Park in Adelaide's southeast at about 8.30am (CDT) on Monday.
A magnitude three quake had struck near Hawker in the Flinders Ranges at about 4.30am (CDT) and could be felt up to 23km away.
Jonathan Bathgate, senior seismologist at Geoscience Australia, said hundreds of residents reported feeling the Aberfoyle Park earthquake.
"That's the one that's been more widely felt by the population, basically because it is in a more populated area of Adelaide," he told AAP.
"While smaller, it has certainly created more of a stir than the other one."
Mr Bathgate said the Aberfoyle Park earthquake would have felt like a short and sharp jolt, lasting only a few seconds.
He said earthquakes in the Aberfoyle Park area are uncommon, with Monday's quake one of only 13 in 30 years.
Earthquakes in the Flinders Ranges were quite common and hundreds occur in the area each year.
There have been no reports of damage from either quake.
