Two taken to hospital after lightning hit

Two men have had a near miss after lightning struck near their caravan on Queensland's Sunshine Coast, two days after a man was killed by a strike.

Two men have been taken to hospital after lightning struck near their caravan on Queensland's Sunshine Coast.

The men were staying at the Cotton Tree Holiday Park when the lightning hit the ground near them at about 8.30pm Sunday.

One of the men, in his 70s, suffered chest pains, a Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said.

The other, in his 40s, had no obvious injuries.

Both were taken to the Nambour Hospital.

The incident happened two days after a tourist was killed and his young son was taken to hospital after a lightning strike at a Queensland beach.

Lightning struck the man just after 5pm (AEST) on Friday as he was standing with a group of people on the beach at Inskip Point, near Fraser Island.
