Two track relay bronzes for Australia

Australian teams have won bronze medals in the women's 4x800m and men's distance medley race at the World Relays track meet.

Australia have claimed bronze medals in the women's 4x800m and the men's distance medley race on the final day of the World Relays meet in the Bahamas.

Brittany McGowan anchored an Australian team also including Abbey de la Motte, Kelly Hetherington and Selma Kajan to third spot behind the United States and Poland in the 4x800m event.

"I was really lucky to catch the Canadian girl early on and then sit behind her," said McGowan.

"There was a big headwind down the back straight, but I just had to go, I made the split second decision and I'm glad that I did because we've come away with a bronze medal."

Ryan Gregson pocketed his second bronze medal of a successful weekend with a powerful lead-out 1200m leg in the distance medley race.

The team also included Alex Beck, Jordan Williamsz and Collis Birmingham.

Gregson and Williamsz were also members of the squad who were promoted to third in the men's 4x800m event on Saturday after Kenya were disqualified for an illegal changeover.

Australia finished seventh in the final of the women's 4x400m, guaranteeing them a spot at next year's Rio Olympics.
