In-form paceman Andrew "AJ" Tye has one of the more unusual reasons for missing a call from national cricket selector Trevor Hohns, but that's one of the few things he's missed in recent times.
Tye and fellow West Australian paceman Jhye Richardson were the two uncapped players named on Wednesday in the Australian ODi squad for this month's five-match series against England.
They are set to see some action, with Hohns revealing the established pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood will all get some time off during the series.
Both have played T20 internationals, Tye on seven occasions and Richardson twice.
Each proved their limited overs credentials by having a fruitful campaign in WA's charge to the domestic one-day title.
Richardson was the competition's joint-leading wicket taker with 13 and Tye headed the Warriors' averages and conceded a miserly 4.2 runs per over.
Late bloomer Tye, 31, has carried that form into the BBL, taking a competition-leading 13 wickets in just four games for the unbeaten ladder-leading Perth Scorchers.
He took three T20 hat-tricks in 2017, two in the BBL and one on his IPL debut and doesn't dispute it was the best year of his career.
"Probably results would say that, I probably think there's still a bit to go,'" Tye said.
"'But results have shown that I'm bowling pretty well and as long as I keep at it in my mind and don't try too hard and strive for anything too extra, I think I should be OK."
Tye missed the good news call from Hohns because he was doing something much more mundane than knocking over batsmen.
"I was out at the washing line picking my clothes I needed to wear off the line," Tye revealed.
"I left my washing a bit late last night."
Richardson 21, has played just eight one-day games, seven of them this season.
"I like it. It suits my game quite well," Richardson said.
"I like to pride myself a little bit on my variations."
Tye and Richardson face the prospect of playing against fellow paceman and Scorchers teammate David Willey, who is in the England squad.
"There could be some little funny jibes said out on the pitch if we're out there together," Tye said.
"It will be interesting having only played with him on the same team, never played against him, even in my time in England,
'It will be good fun and he won't be my mate out there, that's for sure."
