UK airports worst for free wi-fi: survey

UK airports have fared poorly for free wi-fi access in a survey of Europe's air terminals.

The Skycanner survey of 1500 European travellers found the UK's airports were the worst of all those in Europe, with only Birmingham and London City offering unlimited free wi-fi.

Heathrow, claiming to be Europe's busiest airport, only grants visitors 45 minutes of free wi-fi access, then charges STG3 ($A5.48) per hour.

But look out if you ever find yourself delayed in Lisbon or Dusseldorf airports; they charge a whopping STG8 ($A14.60) per hour to surf the web. For a full list of wi-fi airport charges in Europe, visit: skyscanner.net/news/skyscanner-european-guide-to-airport-wifi
