EuroBasket 2015 will not take place in Ukraine as European basketball's ruling body on Friday decided the country was not fit enough to host the continental championship.
FIBA Europe had been delaying for months a final decision to take the biennial tournament away from Ukraine, hoping the political situation within the country would stabilise.
FIBA Europe did not announce which country or countries would host the tournament, saying the confederation's board would accept hosting bids until July 31. The hosts would then be announced at the end of August after qualifying is complete.
Sixteen countries have already shown interest in hosting the competition, and FIBA Europe is believed to be open to more than one country staging the event.
Ukraine was told it will have an advantage if it decides to host the EuroBasket in 2017.
