Australian researchers have created the world's first quantum bit, which may lead to the creation of ultra-powerful computers in the future.

They've created a single atom - a quantum bit - in a silicon chip.

It's the first building block for a revolutionary piece of hardware capable of processing information billions of times faster than today's technology.

Ricardo Goncalves spoke to the people behind the discovery.
