Underdog boxer Dib plans to dazzle

Billy Dib says he has learnt from his three losses, as he aims to take the WBC super featherweight title off Japan's Takashi Miura in Tokyo on Friday.

Billy Dib is determined to enjoy himself and stay true to his own style, rather than worry about pleasing other people, in his super featherweight boxing world title bout in Japan on Friday.

Former IBF featherweight world champion Dib will endeavour to become one of the few Australians to win universally recognised world titles in two divisions, when he challenges Japan's WBC super featherweight champion Takashi Miura in Tokyo.

Dib lost his featherweight title to Russian Evgeny Gradovich in March 2013 and a rematch just under nine months later,

Betting outsider Dib 29, (39-3, 23 KOs)is treating the fight against 30-year-old Miura (28-2-2, 21 KOs) as potentially his last chance of winning another world title.

In the past, Dib has adapted his style depending on his opponent and also to become more fan friendly, especially after he was criticised for his performance in his loss to the then WBO featherweight champion Steve Luevano in the United States in 2008.

"I'm going to go out there and enjoy myself and put on a dazzling performance," Dib told AAP from Tokyo.

"The three defeats that I've suffered in my career are setting me up for this big fight now.

"We're definitely going to take all of the lessons that I've learnt.

"One of the major lessons I learnt was just to be Billy Dib.

"I've just tried to really enjoy myself, because in the past I've put a lot of pressure on myself and this time round I've decided I'm not doing that anymore."

Both champion and challenger came in right on the limit at Thursday's weigh in.

Miura, who Dib described as a hard-hitting southpaw, will be making his fourth title defence.

Dib, who is having just his fourth fight at super featherweight, said he felt strong and fit at the weight.

He has prepared for the fight by sparring several southpaws including Czar Amonsot and Paul Fleming.

The fight will be shown live on free-to-air on Channel Nine.
