UNDP launches CAR program

The UNDP has launched a two-year initiative to help deliver services in the conflict-affected Central African Republic.

The United Nations Development Program has launched a two-year initiative to help deliver services in the conflict-affected Central African Republic.

Around one-million people have been displaced by the conflict which began in December 2012.

The UN program aims to repair infrastructure, promote social cohesion and create short-term employment to help revitalise the local economy.

The UNDP's Priya Gajraj told Peggy Giakoumelos, lawlessness, corruption and underinvestment in social services have left the population in great need.
