Urdu broadcaster retires after 33 years

After 33 years, Yasmin Sayed has retired as an SBS Radio Urdu language broadcaster.

The main language spoken at home by more than two-thirds of the 30,000 Pakistan-born people living in Australia is Urdu.

It's one of the languages spoken by many of the India-born people as well.

One person who's closely followed the growth in Urdu-speakers in Australia is SBS Radio broadcaster Yasmin Sayed.

On her retirement after 33 years as with the Urdu language program, Yasmin Sayed shared some reflections with Kristina Kukolja.
